About Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

Hanauma Bay is one of the favorite spots when talking about snorkeling, People here mostly come from far off with family, friends, groups to have the snorkeling experience together. The crystal clear water here complements its spectacular view and despite so many people in the bay, we must appreciate that the marine life and coral reef are so beautifully maintained.

The history of Hanauma Bay says it was initially formed by volcanic cone and today it is one of the hottest tourist spot as other than a beach it has a lot of beach activities than you can get involved in like Snorkeling at Beautiful Hanauma Bay State Park which is the hot favorite or  Swim with Wild Spinner Dolphins and Green Sea Turtles or maybe just relax with your family and call it a day.

Tips

  • Whenever you plan your trip to Hanauma Bay please make sure you are aware of all the safety tips
  • Make sure you start early as it is common for the parking lot to fill by mid-morning, so arrive as early as possible. Also, you can beat the mid-morning rush, plus get to snorkel in clearer conditions before the sand gets crowded
  • If you don’t have snorkel gear, you can easily get them as there are shuttle companies that supply snorkel gear as well
  • You must pay an entrance fee of $1.00 per car as you enter the parking lot plus $7.50 per person above the age of 13
  • You can keep your Snorkel gear in lockers as it is available on rent
  • Please carry enough snacks and water with you as there is only one snack outlet in Hanauma Bay 
  • Please carry hats, sunscreen 
  • Hanauma Bay is accessible by wheelchair and prams, Beach wheelchairs are available for free
