About Haleakala National Park

Haleakala National Park is located on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii. The actual meaning of the word "Haleakala" is "House of the Sun". It is believed that the demigod Maui imprisoned the Sun in this place in order to increase the length of a day. This park was separated from Mauna Loa and Kilauea and created as a National Park in 1961, The park is the home of the highest peak in Maui measuring 10,023 feet. It is one of the popular attractions in Maui with different climate zones. Most of the people visit here to enjoy the climates. Park consists of nearly 31 water bear species and it remains a sanctuary for water bear species on the earth and it was discovered by local biologist Sam Gon III in the 1980's. The Sunrise and Sunset view is the most amazing thing you can enjoy in this park and the park is famous for hiking activities. People like astronomists come here for hiking and exploring the view of the sky. The National Park is also a home for flora and fauna. You can spot many endangered species in this park such as, silversword and Hawaiian goose which is the state bird. You can also go for horseback riding, camping where you can spot rare plants and animals on the way.

Haleakala National Park is called as the house of the sun where you can explore the volcanic landscape, feel some cool breeze on your skin as you are right at the top somewhere 10,023 feet above sea level where you can view the excellence of the summit and trust me whether you plan for a sunrise or sunset both the views at the top would be a mind-blowing experience. It takes quite some time to reach the top but once you are at a height it is a spectacular view where the sun changes its color with time and this is something that you can't just miss.
