About Yangtze River

How to reach

It is 1,045 kms away from the city center.

You can reach there by Train or Plane.

Train: 

  • Takes 26 hours from Shanghai Railway Station to Chongqingbei Railway Station costing CNY 242/hard seat; Takes 31 hours from Shanghai South Railway Station to Chongqingbei Railway Station costing CNY 240/hard seat; It needs 42 hours from Shanghai South Railway Station to Chongqing Railway Station costing CNY 268.5/hard seat.
  • Bullet Trains depart from Hongqiao Railway Station and arrive in Yichang East Railway Station taking about 8 hours costing CNY 419.5 for a first-class soft seat; Trains leave from Shanghai South Railway Station to Yichang costing CNY 213/hard seat; Trains start from Shanghai Railway Station and reach Yichang East Railway Station costing CNY 164.5/hard seat.

Plane: About 2 1/2 -3 hours from Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport. It costs CNY 1495/person for an economy ticket.

 

 

Tips

  • Guides are very knowledgable and helpful so better take a guide along.
  •  Breakfast is the nicest meal, as it's at the hotel and offers continental food.
  • Lots of traveling, this includes 3 train journeys, one being 8 hours long. Also, each day would require bus journeys of between 1 and 4 hours. 
  •  Lots of walking, for two days, 11 miles each day, on average, 3-6 miles per day.
  • Possibility of catching a cough and cold if going in November/December. 
  • Make sure you take advantage of the local markets when visiting attractions along the Yangtse River.
