About Shanghai Museum

Square is for Land; Round is for Heaven. Two shapes; one symbol. The Shanghai Museum, in People’s Square, is calling your name. You want to see this place, you really do. In fact, you need to. Ancient Chinese history, philosophy, and wisdom; inventions, artifacts, dynasties' contributions to modern concepts of civilization itself and secrets of a Nation which you will never fully know unless you come and see it for yourself, is here in the Shanghai Museum.  Everything you will ever want to know about ancient and modern China resides in this very place that overwhelmingly welcomes you through a structure that is far from ordinary.

Located in people's square of Huangpu district, Shanghai Museum is famous for the display of Chinese art and various other artifacts from the ancient civilization. The outer facade of the museum resembles a Chinese cooking pot. It is considered the first world-class modern museum in China. The museum consists of brush paintings, ceramics, calligraphy, jade and ivory wales, bamboo, oracle bones, seals, coins and a lot more artifacts. The museum displays furniture from the Ming and Qing dynasty. There's a sculpture hall located inside the museum where Buddhist sculptures from different centuries have been arranged chronologically. The museum is beautifully curated and remains unique in its own way. One can also shop for traditional items and souvenirs here. This is an ideal place for history buffs.
