About Oriental Pearl TV Tower

Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower is a TV tower located in Pudong district. It is the tallest tower in China and the fourth highest tower in Asia. The construction of the tower began in 1991 and was completed in 1994. The Oriental Tower constitutes three levels, including the lowest sphere a.k.a. "Ball", the second sphere a.k.a. "Upper ball", and the third smallest sphere a.k.a. "Space Capsule". You can visit the Shanghai Municipal History Museum located in the tower where you can explore more about Shanghai's history and take pictures with the wax figures.

There is a revolving restaurant in the tower, which is also the second highest revolving restaurant in Asia. It revolves once every 2 hours. You can travel up and down the tower using the double-decker elevator which holds up to 50 people. The architecture of the building is really impressive. The place is usually crowded, but you can get your space to enjoy the view of the city. The tower services the city with more than nine television channels and ten FM radio channels.  It is undoubtedly one of the most enthralling and a must-visit hotspot in Shanghai.

How to reach

Taxi: The attraction is just located 5.3 km from the city and can be reached within 15 minutes. 

Bus: 81, 82, 314, 939, 993, Cailu Special Line, Lujiazui Financial City Line 1 and you will reach Lujiazui Huanlu Fenghelu Station, from there take sight seeing bus line 2 and reach the destination.

  • Day time is the best time to visit the attraction as you cannot get a clear view during the evening. 
  • Avoid visiting on rainy and foggy days. 
  • Pre-book your tickets to avoid standing in the queue. 
  • Dress comfortably
  • Wear comfortable shoes and carry a water bottle.
