Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Centre is located at People's Square which was opened in 2000. The center exhibits the planning and construction achievements of the city. The whole building has venues for exhibition, education reference, research, communication, recreation, and entertainment. The architecture of the building is inspired by the traditional Chinese city gates. Magnolia is the flower of Shanghai and the design of Magnolia is incorporated on the top of the building, which makes it more unique.
The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Centre has received many awards for its uniqueness. It received the Top Chinese Architectural Construction award, "White Magnolia Cup", and China's "Luban Cup" award for its extraordinary architectural look. On the 5th floor of the building, you can explore the development of Shanghai from the beginning till present. It not only exhibits its urban planning and architecture, but also the environment, economy, culture, the future Shanghai, and more. You can also view pictures of "the history of the Bund", video on "Urban history of Shanghai", and an electronic screen presentation on "Yu Garden". This is the best attraction for exploring the architecture of Shanghai and China.
