Xintiandi is located in the middle of Shanghai and consists of a shopping hub, restaurants and bars. It is also the best entertainment district in Shanghai. "New Heaven and Earth" is the acutal meaning of the word "Xintiandi". The place received an "Excellence Award" in 2003 from the Urban Land Institute, and is the first Chinese site among the top ten entertainment hubs of the world. Though the area is small, it remains the favorite entertainment spot for locals and tourists as well.
The architecture of the building preserves its traditional Shikumen style along with a modern interior design. Xintiandi is the best place for shopping and entertainment both during the day and night. You can enjoy your visit both on weekdays and weekends. Remember to bargain. while shopping or better still take a local guide to help you.
