About The Museum of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

This was started on 28 August 2004 by Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in March 2005 opened its doors for the visitors. The museum displays unique archive documents, scientific materials, books written by Nazarbaev, gift collections, awards, and many other interesting items revealing the work of the first President of the country and the newest history of Kazakhstan. There are over 40000 exhibits in the museum which are preserved very well. There are also several items which were gifted to the honorable President by heads of other states with signatures and wishes considered to be genuine masterpiece inside the museum. The most noticeable gifts are porcelain chess set 'Borodino' given by the President of Belorussia Aleksandr Lukashenko; a collection of golden-plated stamps by the Ambassador of Singapore, Sim Chok Lim; the charming golden statue of Buddha from the Vice-President of the Buddhist Association, and a silver glass with amethyst from Mongolia.
There is an area which displays the school items that once belonged to the President. The most unique display in the museum is the sports bicycle of Alexandr Vinokurov, which gained him victory in 2006 on a world-known annual bicycle race 'Vuelta' held in Spain. Apart from the above displays, other exhibits are art-therapeutic seminars, scientific-research, informative-publishing, and the like. One of the best parts of the museum is the program of supporting children with limited abilities.
There is also a café on the territory of the museum.

  • One has to pass through a security booth before walking inside, so its recommended not to carry any offensive items like sharp or explosive objects.
  • Most of the information boards are in Russian so taking a tour guide will be helpful for the one who doesn't know the language.
  • Putting plastic overshoes before entering the hall which is provided by them.
  • Photography is prohibited.
  • The cafe is there on the premises for a coffee break or a quick snack.
  • Do some research before you go and try less crowded days and times.
  • Children may not find the place interesting.
  • Carry an ample amount of water to avoid dehydration.
  • Make sure to carry sunscreen if it is sunny outside.
