It was opened on December 1, 2015, by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Nursultan Nazarbayev. The yurt-shaped museum showcases exhibitions on weaponry and warfare, with striking murals greeting visitors. Each exhibit in the museum is unique and a must-see for anyone interested in military history. The chariot sculpture at the main entrance is the most eye-catchy. The museum occupies four floors, the bottom 3 are extensive displays of all things military which was collected from all over Kazakhstan and the top floor consists of art exhibits. In a small area, there is a display of WW2 equipment which included old Soviet propaganda posters, dioramas, pictures, swords, and guns. The second floor includes a man stone display and an excellent display of ancient rifles including Soviet standard rifle and gunpowder holders.
Another unique aspect of the museum is an interesting ancient horse skeleton. All modern military equipment, mines, and machine guns can be found on the 3rd floor. Apart from exhibitions, the museum also includes research activity by constantly conducting conferences, discussions, and events on military topics.
