Hazrat Sultan Mosque
Hazrat Sultan is the largest mosque in Central Asia, situated in Astana, Kazakhstan. The mosque was named in honor of one of the Sufi Sheiks – Khoja Ahmed Yassawi, a Muslim Saint. It is located on the right bank of the Yesil river. The mosque dome is 51 meters in height, the largest dome in Kazakhstan and the main dome is surrounded by eight small ones. The building portrays Islamic culture and architecture using traditional Kazakh ornaments. It was inaugurated in the year 2012 and took 3 years to build. The Mosque is considered as one of the most modern attractions of Astana with an impressive dome and minarets. It can accommodate 10 thousand worshippers. The mosque's premises includes a hall for wedding ceremonies, rooms for Koran reading, cloakroom, and аn ablution room. There is a cafeteria in the base of the building which offers basic meals. The mosque has beautiful lights on its exterior with a view is that is stunning in the night. It also has one of the largest eye-catching chandeliers as well as the oldest Quran.
