Atameken was opened on 8 September 2001, in the Kazakh capital, Astana, on the initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. It mainly displays the whole wealth of Kazakhstan in miniatures. All the regions and the country’s major cities are marked on the huge map of Kazakhstan. This building was constructed mainly for educating the young generation about the geography of the country.
A unique open-air museum, 200m-long that consists of a country map with over 300 models and another 40 models that display the new administrative center situated on the left bank of Astana. It also includes a forum with an arena to host concerts, meetings, and festive events. Atameken, a 1.7 hectare, non-profit organization, provides a totally unique visual experience. All varieties of climatic zones, landscapes, architectures, and urban ensembles are presented here. The important ones are those of the historical and cultural monuments.
It will take around 7minutes to reach the place from the city center by taxi and the cost will be around 2 to 4 USD.
