One of the best museums in China, the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is also called the Museum of the Southern Yue Royal Mausoleum. It consists of the royal tomb of the Nanyue ruler Zhao Mo. The tomb was revealed in 1983 when a bulldozing gang digging up a basement for a hotel discovered the primeval mausoleum. The skeletons of Zhao Mo and 15 of his courtiers who were buried alive to serve him in death and numerous thousands of stuff from the empire are on show,.The compact tomb behind the museum is open to visitors as well.
This is now home to the Guangdong Folk Arts Museum. Famed for the ornate decorations both inside and outside the building.
