About Woodland Park Zoo

The Woodland Park Zoo has the largest number of living animals in Washington State. There are 300 species living in the zoo, out of them, 30 are endangered and 17 are threatened or vulnerable species. The zoo focuses on conserving wildlife and in increasing awareness of environmental issues that affect animals. The zoo has a large number of exhibits and has been honored with awards for its Jaguar Cove, Humboldt Penguin, Northern Trail, Trail of Vines, Tropical Rain Forest, African Savanna, and it's Elephant Forest.

The specialty of this zoo is you can see animals as if they are living in their natural habitat, such an amazing thing to see! They will create a blend of different climates, giving a home feeling for the animals. One can find animals of different climatic zones. In addition to a large number of animals, the zoo also has 92,000 plants and trees of more than 1,300 species. In the summer, it hosts outdoor concerts conducted in the beautiful North Meadow by the zoo. For more than 30 years, these concerts have been held by the Woodland Park Zoo. The Rose Garden covers 2.5 acres and boasts 200 varieties of roses with over 3,000 rose plants. The roses can be enjoyed from 7 a.m. until dusk each day, and entrance is free. The best part of this zoo is that you can interact with baby animals. In the Australian exhibit, one can get a chance to feed parrots.
