The Museum of History and Industry (or MOHAI) is the largest private heritage organization in Washington State. The museum has four million artefacts which focus on the history of the greater Puget Sound area, and Seattle in particular. The speciality of the Museum of History and Industry lies in the way the artifacts are displayed.
Visitors can have hands-on experience and actually feel the history come alive. This museum is one such museum which even the locals like to visit again and again. Thousands of rare objects and historic images show us how the city was built from scratch. The displays and exhibits here are interactive and attract all age groups. One can get to know legendary stories about men and women who built the city. There are so many temporary exhibits here as well throughout the year. The first commercial aircraft, 1919 Boeing B-1, is displayed by the Faye G. Allen Grand Atrium built by the company. The Walker Specials Exhibits Gallery displays temporary exhibits. About 3 million historic photographs, as well as manuscripts, maps and posters are preserved by Sophie Frye Bass Library, it also provides access to them. This museum also functions as a research department.
