The Space Needle is 606 feet tall, Seattle's most iconic landmark. It has a concrete foundation which is really deep, around 300 feet deep underground and it was once considered the tallest structure west of the Mississippi. The Space Needle was financed by the Pentagram Corporation, which had great architects and constructors. In 1982, The Space Needle increased its height by 100ft when the SkyLine level was added to the Space Needle.
The Space Needle was designed by 2 architects and was built for the 1962 World Fair. It takes less than a minute to reach the top of the tower. One can get a lovely view from the observation deck of the Space Deck. This observation deck has an interactive sky school for kids. The Space Needle’s observation deck is a must-visit, which visitors can reach via elevators that take a breathtaking 41 seconds to the top. There is a rotating deck on top which gives 360-degree rotation for visitors to enjoy the view while having food. This Space Needle was designed for high wind velocity. Can you imagine it stood strong to the earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale? It has an interesting feature, it expands by an inch on some hot days.
