The Pacific Science Center was the first US museum that was founded as a science and technology centre. The Center is home to a number of permanent and temporary exhibits which will prove interesting to the people with a love for science and innovation. Professor Wellbody’s Academy of Health and Wellness is an immersive exhibit which demonstrates how personal choices affect our health, through hands-on inventions, gadgets and activities. The Pacific Science Center has exhibits from the 1962 World Fair to present times.
The Tropical Butterfly House exhibit has more than 400 butterflies that can be photographed. In the Butterfly House, temperatures remain a constant 80’s, and special lighting keeps plants and butterflies thriving. The chrysalis viewing window is a special attraction at the Butterfly House, here you can see new creatures emerging out each morning. There are five flowers each equipped with solar panels, measuring tens of feet tall, in collaboration with Seattle City Light, created by Artist Dan Corson. During the day, the sun shines through the petals, and at night the flowers light up. The Sonic Boom exhibit shows how solar energy can be used to create a sustainable planet. You can see science on wheels, where 40 minute shows are conducted for kids.
