About Sky View Observatory

Sky View Observatory is located on the 73rd floor of Seattle’s tallest building, the Columbia Center. Columbia Center is the tallest skyscraper in the Seattle skyline. This building is 943 ft  and is the tallest skyscraper in the State of Washington. The 76-storied building covers most of the block between Cherry and Columbia Streets, and Fourth and Fifth Avenues.

The sky lights sculptures that can be found in the Columbia Center’s lobby are a must see. This is a 360-degree observatory serving as the highest viewpoint west of the Mississippi. Mount Ranier, Lake Washington, the Cascade Mountains, Elliot Bay and the Space Needle are the wonderful sights one can get to enjoy here. You will be reaching a height of 275 m (902 ft) by the observation deck. Here you can get the panoramic views of distant mountains and enjoy the view of the vast city below. Tickets can be purchased online or at the location. This is the tallest building in Seattle where you can have a 70-second elevator ride and enjoy an amazing view of the city. So much fun to see the full city, especially great at sunset or in the late afternoon. They have a bar with drinks and a snackbar at the top. It’s the perfect place to visit for all ages. Reach there any time of the day, you are assured to enjoy great views  Sky View Observatory is closed on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day and New Year’s Day.

By Bus:

Link and Bus 41, 74, 101, 102, 106, 150, 255, 550 stop Pioneer Square Station

Tips

  • Check-in process will take time, especially during rush hours
  • Best time to visit this place is during sunset
  • The person in the elevator is really informative, do some chitchat with him
  • Carry drinking water with you, as it is difficult to get water here
  • Plan ahead since it takes time for parking
  • Tickets can be booked online to save time
