The University of Washinton was founded in 1861, it's a great place to visit. It spreads across 703-acres making it the main Seattle campus and is situated in the University District above the Montlake Cut. The university is located within the urban Puget Sound region of the Pacific Northwest and has over 500 buildings in 20 million gross square footage of space.
It has one of the largest library systems in the world with over 26 university libraries, as well as the University of Washington Tower, lecture halls, art centers, museums, laboratories, stadiums, and conference centers. The Sylvan Grove Theatre takes you back to your college days, this is also one of the favorite student hangouts, quiet and tranquil. There is a lovely fountain, the Drumheller Fountain on the campus. The university graduates earning the highest military honor are facilitated in Medal of Honor Memorial. A scenic view of Mount Rainier can be enjoyed from Rainier Vista. The students gathering spot is the Central Plaza, there is a broken obelisk there, do check it out.
