A natural science museum, according to renowned architect Renzo Piano, "should tell a story about energy, about life, about exploration, about wonder". The California Academy of Sciences, designed by Piano, does that masterfully. The stunning museum, one of the world's largest natural history museums, reopened in 2008 after a complete overhaul. This eco-friendly building's most striking feature is its 2.5-acre green roof with living plants and rolling hills. Needless to say, the museum is a perfect showcase for planet earth's natural wonders. You can marvel at the rain forest, be dazzled by marine creatures in the gigantic aquarium, and can have the perfect space adventure at the planetarium.
