Located on Biscayne Bay, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is the former estate of businessman James Deering, the owner of International Harvester Company. Built-in the 20th century, the mansion has a native woodland landscape, and an outbuildings compound consisting of a historic village. The estate was initially spread across 180 acres of tropical forests and shoreline mangroves, which was later converted into recreational space, lagoon gardens, while a mansion was built at the center by Deering.
The museum is a tribute to the Italian Renaissance and contains original artwork and furniture of that period. The museum is surrounded by lush gardens. Vizcaya is an amazing place for photography. The gardens contain both Italian and French design elements, with an overall design conceived as a series of rooms.
