About Meriç Bridge

One of the oldest bridges in the world, the Meric` bridge built over the river Meric` is a testament of the strength of Ottoman design. The structure has maintained itself very well without much interference from restructuring or reconstruction. The bridge has twelve arches and is the route used by several travelers to get in and out of Turkey into neighboring Bulgaria. This 263-meter long bridge built in the 1800s is a beautiful symbol of strength and is worth the visit. Small cafes near the bridge serve authentic Turkish coffee on the platter of the beautiful scenery around the bridge.
