A hospital laid down by the Ottoman empire in the 1400s with a view to impart, provide and excel in medical practices has been well maintained by the Turkish officials to date. Several rooms in the complex and their uses give an insight into the knowledge base of the people of the Empire. Their advanced and unique approach to medicine is showcased in the tour. Apart from the rooms which are seen in most hospitals, the complex houses a music room dedicated to providing patients with therapy through music. It still conducts these shows on an hourly basis. A must see on everyone's list, the Museum, is unique and carries a lot of history, puts into perspective the practices followed by the Ottoman empire.
Trakya University Sultan 2. Bayezid Complex Health Museum is very easy to access. There are regular bus services from Ankara, Izmir, Istanbul and some other major cities to Edirne for those coming from outside the city. This takes some time; about 2 hours from Istanbul by motorway. As the museum is very close to the city center, it can be reached on foot. For walking, you can choose the route from the left of the Provincial Mansion. The minibus stop is between Ziraat Bank and the Central Bank.
