The Edirne Palace, also known as the Edirne Sarayl, was built in 1400 on a whopping 350 square meters area. A mammoth structure that housed several rooms, mosques, and baths. Edirne being the capital of the Ottoman empire was privy to most of the inflow of wealth and development. The palace complex had around 72 different buildings that comprised 117 rooms, 14 mansions, 18 bathhouses, 8 masjids, 17 gates, and 13 cellars. During the king's reign, around 34,000 people lived in the palace at a time. There were harem rooms for the Mother and the Sultans wives, the prince, the officers, and guards, an infirmary and a reception hall. West to the pavilion in front of the reception hall, a gate called "Bab'üs Sa'ade."
