Ankara, a city from the Bronze Age, is the capital of Turkey. Formerly known as Ancyra and Angora, it is the country’s second largest city, after Istanbul. Ankara is both a modern and an ancient city that has many Roman remains and a well-conserved Byzantine fortress. Being a commercial and industrial city today, it is the center of the Turkish Government and houses all foreign embassies. The landscape of Ankara is interesting with the presence of Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman civilization ruins. The oldest area in the city is the Ankara Citadel that has restored Turkish houses. The city is dominated by mosques that were constructed during the 12th to 18th centuries. Some of the largest and notable mosques in the city are the Aladdin mosque, Ahi Evlan and Haci Bayram mosques in the Ulus quarter, and Kocatepe mosque. The city is also well-known for its café culture.

Every evening tourists in the city enjoy exciting entertainment in numerous clubs and colorful discos. The most famous club in the city is Laila where you will find the best bartenders and performances by the most popular DJs. Biber, Hayyami Wine House, and Newcastle Pub attract a good mix of Turks and foreigners. Escape, Budha Club, IF Performance Hall are some of the venues for a big clubbing night.
