Ulucanlar Prison Museum, the first museum of its kind, is a former state prison that was converted into a prison museum. The prison has made history with its executions and prisoners. Once you enter the museum, you will pass through a dark, cold corridor with the smell of mold which reaches to the 9th and 10th Wards. Once you reach the end of the corridor, you will see the “Hilton” ward. Hilton is known for hosting mostly the renowned people in terms of literature, poets, journalists, and writers. At the museum, the personal belongings of the famous prisoners are also on display. The 6th Ward is furnished as the ward containing the information, documents, and belongings of the famous persons who stayed in the prison. Upon request, you may get handcuffed and be locked in a special segregation unit for up to an hour to experience the prison conditions!
