The history of Ankara Castle is based on the Ancient Era. Many different civilizations such as Hittite, Phrygia, Persian, Arab and Ottoman have been hosted by the castle. It's an open-roof castle, made of stones - a very pretty sight to see! There a lot of historic buildings which have been renovated and turned into popular tourist spots. Forty-two towers with pentagon corners are situated on the walls of the castle which are as high as 16m. One can enjoy spectacular panoramas of Ankara from Akkale, the highest point of the castle. It has two enormous doors, Hisar and Outside doors. A magnificent inscription is also placed which belongs to the Seljuk Era.
