St. Sava church is considered amongst the largest Orthodox churches in the world and sprawls across a vast area of 3,500 meter square at floor level and an additional 1,500meter square in the three galleries on the first level. This marvelous and amazing church is built on a highland in the district "Vracar," where the relics of Saint Sava, an important figure for the Serbs and their history, were burned at the end of the 16th century by the Ottoman Empire. The underground crypt is full of golden frescoes and mosaics church is unique and marvelous. The temple of St. the Sava is clad in white marble and granite, while the murals are mosaic that adds to the value of the church. Besides, the domes are decorated with 18 gilded crosses of three different sizes.
St. Sava Temple (Hram Svetog Save) is 3.3 km from the city center.
