Donts

  • Drinking water is safe in Belgrade. But if you’re particularly sensitive, or dislike tap water taste, high-quality bottled water is available in shops, restaurants, and hotels.
  • Citizens in Belgrade rarely open window in a bus, even when it’s hot. They don’t want anyone to catch a cold from the draft and possibly die.
  • Don’t talk about the war, unless the locals bring it up first. It has left many hundreds dead. It is a sensitive issue there.
  • Don’t argue with the police, cooperate with them in case of any unusual incident.

Night Life

Belgrade, the capital of tremendous fun, scintillating nightlife, is one of the best destinations for party hoppers in Europe. Do you ask why Belgrade? It is because of the city parties the entire week from dusk to late morning hours. Start with great warm-up bars from 8 or 9 p.m. till midnight. After that, the night clubs open from midnight, till 5 a.m. and also after party clubs which are open till 7 a.m. Belgrade has winter clubbing season and summer clubbing season. The winter ones are indoor clubs that open from late September to early May and they are closed when the summer season starts. “Slavs” (splavovi) is the floating river clubs. Reservation is a must to enter the club. Remember that the clubs use face control entry. That means there is an age limit for entrance and anyone below 18 is not allowed. If you look younger better keep your ID card with you. The clubs here do not have a dance floor, and the good thing here is the club management allows dancers to climb and dance on sofas and tables. In some clubs there are go-go dancers, 4 to 8 in number and they just dance mostly on elevated platforms. Clubs with a capacity of 300 to 500 people are almost full every night of the week. In the clubs you get to enjoy house music, progressive, tech house, and turbo-folk, R’n’B, pop, rock, trance, alternative, jazz, or just about any other type of music in existence, you name it. So why wait? Hop, skip and swing to the nightlife in Belgrade.
