About Avala Tower

Avala Tower, a telecommunications and observations tower, is one of the most valuable things in Belgrade. The tower was completed in 1965, however, it was disintegrated and crashed due to the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia on 29 April 1999. In order to put the Radio Television of Serbia off the air. At that time, it was the only tower in the world to have an as its cross-section equilateral triangle and tripod legs. The tower's reconstruction started on 21st December 2006 and it was officially opened on 21 April 2010 but it was delayed until 29 April, the tenth anniversary of its destruction. It is considered as the tallest tower in the Balkans region. Besides, visiting Avala Mountain in which the Avala Tower exists could be a picnic destination, located 16 km from Belgrade.

How to reach

 

Avala Tower is 22.2 km from the city center and takes around 31 minutes to reach

A Lasta Bus leaves Nikola Pasi Square at 10:30 am; return at 2:30 pm; RSD 600.

Public bus 400 leaves Vozdovac Station every 40 minutes from 8 am-7:30 pm in the weekends during summers especially
