About Saint Petkas Chapel

The Saint Petka's Chapel is named after Saint Petka who were persecuted and martyred during the 10th century. The church is located within the Belgrade Fortress or BeogradskaTvrdjava, it consists of the old citadel and Kalemegdan Park on the confluence of the River Sava and Danube. It is one of chapels and churches dedicated to the saint Petka throughout the Balkans. St. Petka church was built in the middle ages and was constructed of roughly hewn stone as it was beautifully decorated with mosaics, which were installed around 50 years after the chapel was constructed. The church possesses impressive colorful mosaics on the walls and ceiling as all of the frescoes and icons are mosaic as well which gives the chapel a remarkable view and makes it an exquisite attraction.
