How to reach

By Metrorail:

If using Metrorail, take the Orange or Blue line to the Smithsonian station and use the Mall exit

By Metrobus:

If taking Metrobus, use the 32, 34 or 36 routes

Tips

  • Carry some cash with you, some of the attractions inside the Museum are paid and you might have to purchase the tickets
  • Visit early in the morning or late afternoon, to avoid the crowd
  • Know what all the museum has to offer and thus visit the places that interest you only
  • Wear comfortable footwear because you will have to walk a lot
  • There are two cafes in the museum, so in case you are tired, take a halt and refresh yourself
  • Do not miss out on the Natural History Museum which is usually liked by both adults and children
