About National Mall and Vietnam Veterans Memorials

Experience the history offered by the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States. The landscaped plot of land known as “America’s front yard” with the Washington Monument surrounded by the U.S. Capitol Building and the presidential memorials will inspire you. Vietnam Veteran Memorial, National Mall was built in 1979 as a tribute to all the soldiers who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The wall has names of more than 58,000 brave men and women who lost their lives serving their country. It is open 24 hours, 365 days, and lakhs of people come here to pay their respects. The place holds a lot of sentimental attachment and visiting the memorial is definitely an overwhelming experience. The National Mall is the most-visited national park in the United States with monuments and memorials that honor the country’s forefathers and heroes.

The Lincoln Memorial is not the only monument for a past president. Visit the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, a domed colonnade, and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, the Mall’s largest memorial with a series of four waterfalls and artwork commemorating his four terms of office. Read the names of those who served on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, or marvel at the 19 sculptures of the Korean War Memorial, and wonder at the World War II Memorial, lasting testaments to those that fell during the conflict. Stand where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech or visit any number of museums of the Smithsonian Institution, art galleries, sculptures, and statues.

Ranger tours are organized throughout the day which basically includes volunteers taking you around the whole place and telling you about the memorial. This is the best way to know about the history and the different corners of this monument.
