About Azmak Nehri

Another truly amazing natural phenomenon is the river Azmak Nehri, which is located in the Akyaka village in Muğla city. The source comes from Sakar Mountain and goes through the Gokova sea. This is truly a jewel. The water of the river is drinkable natural mineral water and is protected by the government. It is also a natural aquarium. Lots of different species of fish and ducks live here. The water is freezing cold (8°C) even in summer. Do exercise caution when you get into the water as the depth may vary from 8 m to 20 m. The water is crystal clear with loads of fish, terrapins, waterfowls, geese, ducks, turtles, and birds. One can also enjoy the boat ride, especially during the late mornings. If kids are with you they will enjoy the place to the hilt. Go in the morning or evening if you don't like the hot sun beating down on you. More of the wildlife is active in the morning.
