Just across the Moskva River in Krymsky Val is the Gorky Park, constructed by a widely popular Soviet avant-garde and constructivist architect named Konstantin Melnikov. Named after Maxim Gorky, it was initially used to display gardens, meadows and to plant vegetables that belonged to the neighboring estate owners in the surrounding areas. It was transformed into a Central Park in 1929 by the Presidium of the Moscow Council that desired to have an outdoor and leisurely place of culture for visitors. The wide alleys and the beautifully designed gardens are definitely a sight to see, a relaxing and peaceful place to enjoy with loved ones.
The park is only a 5-minute walk away from Oktyabrskaya-Koltsevaya Metro Station and a 10-minute walk away from Park Kultury.
