Established in 1964, the National Museum of Anthropology is the largest and most visited museum in Mexico City. The museum has 22 rooms in the built-up area of more than 45 thousand square meters. The exhibits are mainly classified under Archaeology and Ethnography categories. The collection dates back to 1790. In 2017, the museum had 2,336,115 visitors. Also known as Museo Nacional de Antropologia, it is considered as a national entity and a symbol of unity. The exhibits range from Pre-Columbian artifacts and Aztec Ruins to post-modern Columbian history. The museum is considered as an icon amongst the attractions of Mexico City and is also recognized as one of the most comprehensive archeological museums in the world. A walk through the museum will take visitors on an entirely different level of spiritual and historic journey providing extensive information about how the present and past of human civilizations are connected, especially shedding light on Latin-American history.
