The Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL) is recognized as the national art museum. The museum has a large collection of Mexican art depicting its history from the mid-16th Century to the mid-20th Century, while its permanent collection includes more than 3,000 artifacts. The museum has 5,500 square meters of exhibition space. The main features of the museum include the reception hall and Patio de Los Leones. The reception hall is decorated with crystals and precious metals and adorned with murals. It is the most favored place for the president of Mexico to announce public declarations and receive foreign dignitaries. In the Patio de Los Leones, you can see the Classic and Gothic style sculptures, while in the center lies the grand semicircular staircase to the upper floors. The most recognizable feature of the museum is the statue of Charles IV of Spain in front of the building.
