The museum is housed inside Fort St. Elmo, named after the protector saint of sailors. Till 2014, the museum accommodated artifacts related to World War I & II. However, after its refurbishment, the museum was curated with exhibits from the Bronze Age.
The museum showcases engaging audiovisual presentations. Artifacts cover the Gloster Gladiator biplane called Faith (minus wings), the single survivor of the three planes which bravely withstood an attack against the island. The museum proudly exhibits the George Cross badge that was bestowed to the entire population of Malta in 1942.
You can see the parade ground and the 1559 church where knights fought to the end during an attack trying to protect the shrine, as well as the later 1729 church. The military parade in Guardia takes pace at the parade ground in October and June.
The museum is 540 m away from the center. You can walk to the museum in 8 minutes.
