About Lascaris War Rooms

The Lascaris War Rooms is a historical landmark in the heart of Valletta. It was the war headquarters of the island during World War II. The Lascaris War Rooms are an underground complex of rooms and chambers that were later used by the NATO as a strategic communication center for the interception of Soviet submarines in the Mediterranean. It is now open to the public as a museum. During the war, about 1000 people worked in the rooms, including 240 soldiers.

  • Follow the signs through the tunnels.
  • Try opting for the guided tour.
  • Be prepared to stand for about 1 hour during the tour.
  • Buy an extra ticket for War Tunnels, which is not covered in the multi-site ticket for the Lascaris War Rooms.
