The final flourish of restored heritage in the Maltese capital is the opening of MUZA: the new National Museum of Art. The Auberge d’Italie, a 16th-century palace built to house Italian-speaking aristocrats of the Order of St. John. hosts the works. After playing various roles as a courthouse and post office, the building has hosted a range of galleries exhibiting Maltese culture through the ages. The museum is close to the Renzo Piano-designed City Gate and parliament building.
The museum is 660 m away from the city center. You can walk there.
