About Il Duomo (Milan Cathedral)

The Duomo is the fifth largest church in the world, situated in the heart of Milan. It took over five centuries to complete the construction which was however completed only in1965. The Il Duomo is considered to be the most impressive structure which comprises of its statues and spires. There are a lot of things which one can explore inside and outside of the structure. The rooftop terrace of the cathedral is very large in itself. Tourists can climb to the top and walk along the terrace where they can enjoy the most beautiful panoramic views of Milan.

How to reach

Metro: Duomo, lines 1 and 3. Tram: Torino (Duomo), lines 2, 3 and 14; Dogana (Duomo), line 24.
Both the metro and tram lines fares: €1.50 for a single ticket that allows 90-minute travel. A 24-hour travel ticket costs €4.50, and a 48-hour travel ticket costs €8.25.
You can also take a taxi to reach Il Duomo (Milan Cathedral) with a minimum fare starting from €3.30. 

Tips

  • If someone has the pass to the Duomo, they can enjoy access to the Duomo Cathedral.
  • There is a flexible pass that allows someone to explore the entire church at any time before the year ends and also, access to the rooftop through the elevator instead of climbing 200 steps.
  • Sundays are the most crowded.
  • You can not take photos without permission. 
  • Do not smoke inside.
  • Do not bring alcohol.
