St. Ambrose or Sant' Ambrogio is one of the oldest churches in Milan named after the patron saint. Since the church entrance is surrounded by a beautiful atrium with magnificent porticos, it is quite exceptional to see one of the most important figures of early Christianity this way. Also, the interior is very nice, packed with a lot of artwork. The basilica was heavily bombed during World War II and has undergone a number of renovations with an eclectic mix of architectural styles.
