Untouched, flawless and unadulterated the beach Nettukuppma, at the southmost point of Chennai is a resort of relaxation and peaceful time spending. A place to witness the skyline of Chennai, one can spend hours watching the cascading waves and blending in the tranquility of the serenity around. The beach was once a seaport, now abandoned, Nettukuppam Pier is situated in Thalankuppam, a fishing hamlet along the Ennore High Road. Located 20 km north of the Port of Chennai, the river meets the sea and one can see a broken concrete structure called the broken bridge. The place is able to maintain its calmness and peace as there are no stalls, no vendors and thus devoid of any unnecessary crowd.
Concrete pier that extends into the sea (broken bridge).
Ennore, which is the nearest railway station, is only a few stations away from Chennai railway station. It would not take more than 40-50 minutes to reach there at the maximum. Also, there are public buses from Broadway and High court bus terminus that will take you to Nettukuppam. Otherwise, to avoid all that travel, you can just hire a cab as well.
