The Madras War Cemetery is an honor and tribute to the World war martyrs. The cemetery is an honorary recognition to the heroes who fought to maintain peace and happiness around. Madras War cemetery is a memorial and war cemetery in Nandambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The cemetery contains 856 burials of the Second World War martyrs and also a Memorial stone for 1000 more. Though the memorial has no actual buried bodies but the memorial tablets with names and contributions of all the British soldiers who lost their lives in both the world wars. The place unfolds some spine chilling encounters and daring spirits of the brave hearts. The place is worth a visit to pay homage to the courage of the resting soldiers.
Madras War Cemetery is located within 5 kilometres of the Chennai airport, right near the trade centre. Many Public bus are available to take you to the cemetery on Mount Poonamalle Road. Its better to hire a cab or a private vehicle for the convenience of the ride.
