With a beauty unsurpassed, the wave-like landscaping of Longsheng Terraced Fields located to the north of Guilin City is a demonstration of sheer labor of the Zhuang people. Built about 650 years ago, the terrace is famous for its large scale rice paddies on the mountain, stacked up in a remarkably systematic and symmetric way. Encircled by Ping’an Village, Jinkeng Village and Guzhuang Village this slice of stunning scenery is accessible from all three villages and is strategically placed to help facilitate the distribution of grains to them. Ping’an Village is one of the most visited by tour groups while Jinkeng Village is higher up and accessible only by cable cars. Climbing up to the mountaintop, you can experience the rural lifestyle of local villages which are mainly occupied by Yao and Zhuang minorities. The timber houses among the terraces offer a breathtaking view as well.
