About Elephant Trunk Hill

The Elephant trunk hill is a place for relaxation and tranquillity. The hill looks like a giant elephant drinking water from the river. It is one of Guilin's highly prized landmarks surrounded by some ancient constructions such as the Puxian Pagoda which is a brick tower dating back to the Ming Dynasty and the Water Moon Cave carved between the elephant's legs and trunk. The site is replete with natural beauty and old tales that draw in throngs of tourists each year. According to the Guilin people, the hill takes its shape from an elephant deity who has now taken on the role of protector of the people on earth. If you visit the place at night you will be greeted by bright lights and an engaging presentation of Guilin culture on screen.
