About Daxu Ancient Town

Daxu town was founded during the early Northern Song dynasty and the standing structures are influenced mainly from the Ming and Qing dynasty architectures. It is an ancient and fascinating town and is a great place to spend the day. The street is paved in bluestone and is lined with small, humble little shops and houses. The town is vibrant and full of life so if you want a cultural tour, take the time out and sample the lifestyle of the locals. Try some dumplings from the stalls or peddle cars along the street or visit the single-arched bridge in the town named Longevity Bridge. How to reach

  • From Guilin Bus Station take the bus bound for Crown Cave and get off at Daxu Town Station. 
  • Alternatively, you can catch a bus in Sanlidian Square which will turn out to be comparatively cheaper and the journey shorter. 
  • One-way taxi ranges between CNY 1,000 and CNY 1,300.

  • The best lodging choices can be found in nearby Guilin.
  • The region surrounding Daxu has a subtropical climate with mild winters and hot, humid summers.
  • Occasionally about once a year, the Li River overflows and floods the lower levels of Daxu village. Travelers are advised against visiting during or immediately after flooding.
  • Credit cards are not accepted here so carry cash.
  • It's better to visit in large groups with tour guides as the village is slightly hard to reach.
