Shahe-e Doh Shamshira Mosque, literally meaning the 'Mosque of the king of two swords', sits in the heart of Kabul amidst the busy marketplace and off the Kabul River. The mosque itself is quite unusual as it features a different style of architecture which would suit the European settings much more than its actual Afghan home. The mosque also features two storeys which is very rare for mosques. The tourists who visit the mosque mainly visit it to marvel at the architecture and the Italian touch in the otherwise Islamic city. Shahe-e Doh Shamshira is also a place which is very politically recognized as the place where women stood up for their rights after a woman was killed in a lynching. It was one of the very few cases where justice stood on the woman's side and all the perpetrators were punished. Since then, the mosque has become a hotspot for all the politically-inclined tourists who want to see the historic place both for its modern and ancient relevance.
