Abdul Rahman Mosque, also known as the Grand Mosque of Kabul, is one of the largest and most majestic mosques in the country. The mosque sits in the central commercial zone of Kabul, the perfect place for many people to gaze upon this tall and elegant structure. One of the most interesting things about this mosque is that it is one of the only mosques to not only allow women inside it, but it has one entire floor dedicated to the women of Kabul who come to visit the mosque. The grandiosity of the mosque is not restricted to the building itself, as it sits upon 3.5 acres of land completely dedicated to itself, which includes a serene garden where people can stroll around. Apart from the praying areas and common areas, the Grand Mosque contains a Madrasa, which is an educational institution which teaches religious and elementary studies, as well as a library which is said to contain over 150,000 books on various topics. It is said that at the time of its inauguration, which was attended by many notable people such as the President himself, the mosque was constructed to spread the message of peace and brotherhood, which it still does.
