Qargha Lake, in Kabul, is a large lake a little ways away from the city. The lake is a very popular picnic destination for not only Kabul residents, but for people from all over Afghanistan. The security here is commendable and the lake is considered safe for everyone to visit, which also makes it a very famous tourist attraction. Due to the increased tourist activity, Qargha Lake is full of activities and food options, getting readily commercialized and thus very easy to have a picnic at. There are lots of water activities like boating and paddle-boating, and even other activities like horseback riding. There is also a large dam in the reservoir which provides a spectacular view if you visit it. A proper trail was only recently added to facilitate more tourists at the lake, and many of the new cafes and restaurants have opened depending on the large footfall matches this place sees. There can still be a shortage of amenities occasionally but Qargha Lake is one of the most favoured picnic spots for all of Afghanistan.
