OMAR Mine Museum headed by Organisation for Mine Clearance and Afghan Rehabilitation is a museum dedicated to mines. The wars in Afghanistan led to a great number of mines being planted all over Afghanistan. Many of the mines were safely defused and removed but many of the mines are still planted and cause a large number of injuries or even deaths every year. The OMAR stand to raise awareness about the threat and also work towards the clearing of the mines from all places. The museum is one of the best places to both learn about the threat and spread awareness on how to stay safe from them. The museum has grown to include many other types of military equipment but it still remains a mine museum above all else. The director of the museum is often found in the building and even offers tours headed by him personally if you are lucky. There are various types of guns, artillery shells and even fighter planes for you to gaze upon and learn about at the museum, a highly recommended place to visit.
